Gathering of the Scots Festival

June 6th-9th, 2024

Southern Victoria, NB, Canada

We are now only a couple of weeks away and things are moving quickly towards the “biggest-little” annual celebration of Scottish culture in Western New Brunswick – the Gathering of the Scots Festival!

WHISKY & GREAT FOOD!

Things get going a week early this year with a 5-course Whisky-Tasting Dinner hosted by the new PathsaalaRestaurant & Inn on Saturday, June 1st.  Guests will be presented with 5 wonderful single-malt whiskies expertly paired with individual hor d’oeurves created by the Pathsaala chefs.   NB liquor representative Ezra MacIntosh will coordinate the evening that will include special musical guests Corsa providing entertainment. Just confirmed, a very special guest will join from “across the pond” this year!  Wesley Lockhart, a native of Perth-Andover now resides with his family in Scotland where he holds the distinction of “Distillery Manager” in Fochabers, UK.  A few tickets are still available ($150) so contact us soon if you would like to reserve your seat!

GOLF ANYONE?

The annual Gathering of the Scots 4-man Scramble starts the festival weekend on Thursday, June 6th with tee times between 4-5 PM at the prestigious Aroostook  Valley Golf & Country Club.  Afternoon registration is now open for this fun-filled event nestled among the rolling hills of Western New Brunswick with a light lunch and prizes to follow.

PIPES ACROSS THE RIVER!

The haunting sounds of pipes & drums on the village bridge will open a night of celebration and music on Friday, June 7th with our very own Southern Victoria Pipe Band leading guests to the door of the Tobique River Trading Company for our much anticipated “Welcome Back Social”.   An evening to renew and forge new acquaintances with music by Perth-Andover’s new quartet Later 4 Supper and Fredericton’s Montgomery Street Band.  What a way to get the weekend started!

WELCOME TO THE GATHERING!

Things start early at Veteran’s Field in the village on Saturday – and go late into the evening!

The list of activities and events throughout the day are simply amazing: See the schedule of events.

And what a deal!

Admissions for this all-day event are only $15 adults, $5 students, and under 12 free!

KIRKING OF THE TARTANS!

As a way to close each year’s festival and acknowledge those that came long before us to this land, we make the Sunday evening pilgrimage to the ancient Larlee Creek Church in Lower Perth for the Kirking of the Tartans – a unique and special service celebrating culture, heritage, and traditions.  Scotland’s own Danny McLardy and David Calder will take you back – way back to the lands of our ancestors.  Bring a piece of tartan to be blessed – any plaid will do!  It’s the thought that counts!

WE’LL SEE YOU SOON!

Perth-Andover and the Gathering of the Scots Festival is the place to be in early June!  Mark your calendars and plan to attend the festivities this year. It’s the “Ultimate Celtic Experience”!
